Feature & Follow Friday August 31

Feature & Follow Friday is hosted by Parajunkee of Parajunkee's View and Alison of Alison Can Read.

Q: Best Cover? What is the best cover of a book that you've read and didn't like?

This is a hard one, I tend to like most of the books I read. Since I have to choose the only thing that comes to mind recently is Turned by Morgan Rice. The cover makes the book seem way more badass then it was. It was quite a letdown.

Cover Reveal: Blood Doll - Georgia Cates

Solomon Alexander has faced huge obstacles during his existence, but they’re nothing in comparison to the one he’s about to hit head on. As leader of The Savannah Compound, part of Sol’s new position in the Coven of Landra is to guide the transition of fledgelings, newly turned vampires. It’s his job to save the unsavable. Being a Landra is what he’s done for over a century and he’s damn good at it, but everything he knows, practices and teaches is threatened when he is forced to drink from Avery Ferrand, a Blood Jewel.

The Blood Jewel is enshrouded with mystery, but one fact is known. There’s never been blood more desirable or addicting than Avery’s and there are consequences for any vampire that drinks it...including Solomon Alexander. Although he adamantly denies his need to feed from her, Avery suspects he’s lying but she has secrets of her own about the night he drank from her. She wanted him to and now she finds herself being drawn to Solomon in a way she shouldn't. As Avery’s desire to be closer to Solomon grows, she finds herself considering something more dangerous than being found by the dangerous covens hunting her...asking Solomon if she can become his Blood Doll.

Q: Worst cover? What is the worst cover of a book that you've read and loved?

A: I have to say it was a book I got a review request for called Voluspa by Sam D.& Ray East. The cover almost made me not want to accept it, it looks too much like a younger teen or tween read instead of a young adult. I was glad I did accept because the story was pretty awesome.

Intangible - J. Meyers

The doctors were useless. Every test came back negative. It was all in his head, they said. Well, yeah, it was. But not in the way they meant. He couldn't tell them what was really going on. He could already hear their skeptical thoughts about migraines. They'd never have believed him about voices, the thoughts he could hear. Besides, He'd already learned that lesson. the hard way. He couldn't tell anyone the truth.

Okay, I know that is way more than 2 sentences but I couldn't resist.

Book Trailer: The Lure of Shapinsay - Krista Holle

Ever since Kait Swanney could remember, the old crones of the village have been warning her to stay away from the selkies. They claim that like sirens of old, the seal men creep from the inky waters, shed their skins, and entice women to their deaths beneath the North Sea. But avoiding an encounter becomes impossible when Kait is spotted at the water’s edge, moments after the murder of a half-selkie infant.

Kait is woken unexpectedly by a beautiful selkie man seeking revenge. After she declares her innocence, the intruder darts into the night, but not before inadvertently bewitching her with an overpowering lure.

She obsesses over a reunion deep beneath the bay and risks her own life to be reunited with her selkie. But when she lands the dangerous lover, the chaos that follows leaves Kait little time to wonder—is it love setting her on fire or has she simply been lured?

This week I'm gonna put up my Shelf of Shame Books. Which are popular books I've had on my shelf forever that I should have read a long time ago. I'm sure you all know them but I'll put the synopsis up anyway.

Against all odds, Katniss has won the Hunger Games. She and fellow District 12 tribute Peeta Mellark are miraculously still alive. Katniss should be relieved, happy even. After all, she has returned to her family and longtime friend, Gale. Yet nothing is the way Katniss wishes it to be. Gale holds her at an icy distance. Peeta has turned his back on her completely. And there are whispers of a rebellion against the Capitol - a rebellion that Katniss and Peeta may have helped create.
Much to her shock, Katniss has fueled an unrest she's afraid she cannot stop. And what scares her even more is that she's not entirely convinced she should try. As time draws near for Katniss and Peeta to visit the districts on the Capitol's cruel Victory Tour, the stakes are higher than ever. If they can't prove, without a shadow of a doubt, that they are lost in their love for each other, the consequences will be horrifying.
In Catching Fire, the second novel of the Hunger Games trilogy, Suzanne Collins continues the story of Katniss Everdeen, testing her more than ever before...and surprising readers at every turn.

Sydney's blood is special. That's because she's an alchemist - one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worls of humans and vampire. They protect vampire secrets - and human lives. But the last encounter Sydney had with vampires got her in deep trouble with the other alchemists. And now with her allegiances in question, her future is on the line.

When Sydney torn from her bed in the middle of the night, at first she thinks she's still being punished for her complicated alliance with dhampir Rose Hathaway. But what unfolds is far orse. Jill Dragomir - the sister of Moroi Queen Lissa Dragomir - is in mortal danger, and the Moroi must send her into hiding. To avoid a civil war, Sydney is called upon to act as Jill's guardian and protector, posing as her roommate in the unlikeliest of places: a human boarding school in Palm Springs, California. The last thing Sydney wants is to be accused of sympathizing with vampires. And now she has to live with one.
The Moroi court believe Jill and Sydney will be safe at Amberwood Prep, but threats, distractions, and forbidden romance lurk both outside - and within - the school grounds. Now that they're hiding, the drama is only just beginning.

Zoey is finally home where she belongs, safe with her Guardian Warrior, Stark, by her side, and preparing to face off against Neferet – which would be a whole lot easier if the High Counsel saw the ex-High Priestess for what she really is. Kalona has released his hold on Rephaim, and, through Nyx's gift of a human form, Rephaim and Stevie Rae are finally able to be together – if he can truly walk the path of the Goddess and stay free of his father's shadow…
But there are new forces at work at the House of Night. An influx of humans, including Lenobia’s handsome horse whisperer, threatens their precarious stability. And then there’s the mysterious Aurox, a jaw-droppingly gorgeous teen boy who is actually more – or possibly less – than human. Only Neferet knows he was created to be her greatest weapon. But Zoey can sense the part of his soul that remains human, the compassion that wars with his Dark calling. And there’s something strangely familiar about him…

Will Neferet’s true nature be revealed before she succeeds in silencing them all? And will Zoey be able to touch Aurox’s humanity in time to protect him – and everyone – from his own fate? Find out what’s destined in the next thrilling chapter of the House of Night series.

Three angels – Gabriel, the warrior; Ivy, the healer; and Bethany, the youngest and most human – are sent by Heaven to bring good to a world falling under the influence of darkness. They work hard to conceal their luminous glow, superhuman powers, and, most dangerous of all, their wings, all the while avoiding all human attachments.
Then Bethany meets Xavier Woods, and neither of them is able to resist the attraction between them. Gabriel and Ivy do everything in their power to intervene, but the bond between Xavier and Bethany seems too strong.
The angel’s mission is urgent, and dark forces are threatening. Will love ruin Bethany or save her?

Silent Song - Ron C. Nieto

The princess of the school, Alice, is keeping a secret that could strip her of her high school fame. She is obsessed with the school’s outcast, Keith, but not just him – his music.

Since the inspiration for the song hit, Keith can’t get it out of his mind. The song must be played; it demands to be played. He knows the music is changing him, but he is unable to stop it.

Music has the ability to move you, enlighten you, and take you to places you have never dreamed of. And this particular piece? It has a life of its own and makes you forget who you really are.

As Keith and Alice learn of one another to the notes of that one perfect tune, they can overlook their roles and discover who they could be together. But they also discover someone else is listening and intends on keeping Keith to herself, possibly for an eternity.

It seemed like the world was against me getting this book started. Every time I picked it up something interrupted me. Once I was able to sit down and read for more than 15 minutes I quickly became engrossed in the story.

At first the story felt like a contemporary romance, with the popular girl finding herself attracted to the school outcast. About halfway through things start to take an interesting turn that had me on edge waiting to get to the next page. The plot was different from anything else I've read recently. Music plays a huge part throughout the story and Ron does a great job of have the reader see the music though the eyes of Alice.

I likes the character Alice and how she developed through the story going from someone that worries about how people see her to some that doesn't care what other think and worries more about the people she cares about. Keith was my favorite character the more I found out about him the more I liked him, and I've said this before guys with guitars are golden for me. Anna and David were great supporting characters, I liked that they didn't fall in line with everyone else and showed a little backbone. I hated Lena and Ray and just wanted them to get what they deserve throughout the book. And Sparrow was awesome I want him to come live in my room.

Silent Song is Ron C. Nieto's debut novel and if everything else she writes is as good as this, then I can't wait to read more.

"Get like what? Like the Bitch Princess of the school is talking to me in an empty auditorium isn't exactly the most normal thing ever?" Keith sighed and tried to rein in his frustration. It didn't work. "Look, just go ahead. We don't want your reputation tarnished. It's bad form not to look at me over your shoulder. Haven't you read the memo?"

I've Been a Bad Blogger...

I know I've had a lack of updating the last couple weeks and it will probably be a little slow the next couple weeks also. I just haven't had time to read as it's that time of the year when school starts up and I have an eight year old getting ready to go back to school in 2 weeks. I hope to be able to get some reading and reviewing done this week as long as my son doesn't surprise me with anymore broken eggs in his closest(don't ask, I don't even know why). So in the meantime don't forget to check out the giveaways that are going on this month.
